What's allowed and what's not on Chismis.

Chismis exists to give people a place to speak honestly about what is happening around them. We believe local communities should be able to share ideas, concerns, frustrations, and opinions openly.

At the same time, conversations must remain respectful and safe. These Community Standards explain what is allowed and what is not allowed on Chismis.

If content violates these standards, it may be removed and accounts may be restricted.

1. Protect people's privacy

Chismis allows open discussion, but private individuals must not be exposed or targeted.

Allowed:

  • Discussing events, situations, or public issues.
  • Talking about public institutions or organizations.
  • Discussing public figures in the context of news or public interest.

Not allowed:

  • Posting names or identifying information about private individuals.
  • Sharing phone numbers, home addresses, or private contact details.
  • Posting photos or videos of people without their consent.
  • Sharing social media accounts or personal information intended to target someone.
  • Posting vehicle license plates or identifying location details about individuals.

2. No harassment or bullying

Chismis encourages debate and disagreement, but direct harassment or abuse is not allowed.

Not allowed:

  • Harassing or insulting other users.
  • Encouraging others to attack or harass someone.
  • Threats of violence.
  • Persistent unwanted messages or comments.

3. No hate speech or discrimination

Conversations should never target people based on identity.

Not allowed:

  • Attacks based on race, religion, ethnicity, nationality, gender, disability, or sexual orientation.
  • Dehumanizing language toward groups of people.
  • Content encouraging discrimination or violence.

4. No threats or dangerous activity

Not allowed:

  • Threats of violence toward individuals or groups.
  • Encouraging self-harm or suicide.
  • Encouraging illegal or dangerous behavior.

5. Sexual content and relationships

Conversations about relationships and personal experiences are allowed, but sexually explicit or abusive content is not permitted.

Not allowed:

  • Sexual harassment toward other users.
  • Explicit sexual content or pornography.
  • Soliciting sexual services.
  • Sharing explicit images or videos.

6. Child safety

Chismis has a zero-tolerance policy for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE). Content involving the sexual exploitation, abuse, or endangerment of minors is strictly prohibited.

Not allowed:

  • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM)
  • Sexual content involving minors
  • Grooming or attempts to exploit minors
  • Requesting or sharing explicit images of minors
  • Content that promotes or facilitates child exploitation

Such content will be removed immediately and may be reported to the appropriate authorities where required by law. Learn more on our Child Safety page.

7. No spam or manipulation

Not allowed:

  • Posting the same message repeatedly.
  • Posting identical content across many locations.
  • Spam advertising.
  • Attempts to manipulate votes or discussions.

8. No misinformation intended to harm

Honest discussion and opinions are welcome, but intentionally spreading false information that may harm individuals or communities is not allowed.

9. Respect local laws

Users must comply with the laws of their local jurisdiction when posting on Chismis. Content that violates applicable laws may be removed.


Reporting violations

If you see content that violates these standards, please report it using the reporting tools in the app.

Users can report posts, comments, or submit a Report a Safety Concern through the app or contact support.

Moderation

Chismis uses a combination of automated systems, community reporting, and human moderation to enforce these rules. Moderation actions may include:

  • Removing posts or comments
  • Limiting visibility of content
  • Restricting posting ability
  • Suspending accounts
  • Permanently banning accounts for severe violations
